👷‍♂️ Whitpain reveals community center renderings

Courtesy of Whitpain Township

Whitpain’s Board of Supervisors voted in late February to build a new community center in Centre Square Park.

The first look at the new facility came recently when consultants from Phillips & Donovan Architects presented renderings as part of an update on the project for the board. You can see the images here. The township hopes to award contracts and begin construction by the end of the year.

The community center will displace a dog park; a replacement for the latter venue is currently being constricted inside Mermaid Park. It should open this summer.

554 Twickenham Rd in Glenside, listed by Nicole Miller-Desantis: Charming Colonial in Twickenham Village | Over 300' Deep Lot | Detached Garage with Loft Storage

Some homes simply stand out—where timeless character and thoughtful upgrades create something truly special. Welcome to Twickenham Village. This home participates in the Custis Woods Twickenham Village Civic Association, which, for a small $30 annual fee, provides a ticket to admission for beloved neighborhood traditions such as the annual yard sale, summer ice cream social, and fall hayride and costume parade.

Set on one of the largest lots in the neighborhood (over 300 feet deep), this 1939 stone Colonial offers exceptional privacy and curb appeal, framed by a white picket fence, colorful seasonal landscaping, and a flagstone walkway bordered by brick that leads to a freshly painted exterior and a custom wood storm door in a soft pumpkin tone. Inside, you’ll find refinished hardwood floors, a neutral color palette, designer light fixtures, and custom millwork in the light-filled dining room that adds a luxe touch. The living room, flanking the eastern side of the home, now features a gas fireplace—converted for year-round ease and enjoyment—recessed lighting, and windows on three sides, including a picture window overlooking the expansive backyard.

The architecturally enhanced kitchen is a standout, combining function and style with custom cream cabinetry, soapstone countertops, professional Jenn-Air appliances, a Liebherr refrigerator, and a charming backsplash. A spacious bay window with seat cushions offers garden views, while French doors lead to the rear patio—perfect for al fresco dining. An adjacent built-in workspace, mudroom, refreshed powder room, and breakfast nook complete this highly efficient and flexible main level.

Upstairs features four bedrooms, with each of the two bathrooms fully renovated to include modern fixtures and penny tile flooring—plus a pull-down staircase to a floored attic for added storage. The basement is partially finished, providing bonus living space, while the unfinished side houses the laundry area and ample storage. A new roof has been installed on both the main house and the detached garage, which features a new garage door, parking for one car, and loads of additional storage—including loft space above.

Extensive landscaping opens up the deep, grassy rear yard—offering both privacy and a sense of retreat.

This charming home is pure perfection—a move-in-ready gem in a true community setting, where old and new come together in perfect harmony.

🐶 Rescue of the Week

James Short | Wiss Now

Meet Luke, a five-year-old coonhound currently being fostered by Home At Last Dog Rescue.

Luke is an active dog who loves to explore his environment. He previously lived in the city, so he is very used to lots of noise and sounds. After a day of sniffing around the world, he will happily settle down for some cuddles. Luke is crate- and house-trained and walks very well on a leash. Luke is great with other dogs and does well on car rides. A good home for him should include an active household.

If you are interested in adopting Luke or would like more information, you can reach out to Home At Last Dog Rescue at [email protected] or visit the group's website.
