🚌 Future of Jarrettown Elementary to be discussed

Upper Dublin School District

The Upper Dublin School District will hold an open house for residents at Jarrettown Elementary School as part of the ongoing assessment of the building’s future.

The open house is Thursday, March 27 from 6-8 p.m.

Jarrettown Elementary in Dresher is the oldest school in the district — built in 1955 — and has been renovated three times. District administrators and facilities consultants will lead 30-minute walking tours of the school. Officials want to educate residents on current conditions and are seeking feedback about potential improvements. The district partnered with a consulting firm last year to explore a range of options for future improvements while maintaining fiscal guardrails. Everything from targeted renovations to a full rebuild is currently on the table.

⚖️ New York man sentenced for Whitpain assault

Montgomery County DA

A Brooklyn man will serve three to six years in state prison after pleading guilty to a violent incident in Whitpain.

Malcolm White, 39, punched and strangled a woman in a parking lot off Jolly Road in June 2022. The victim said White grabbed her by her hair, pulled her out of her vehicle and punched her in the face several times before putting her in a chokehold.

The motive for the assault remains unclear; the victim said she briefly lost consciousness and came to with White sitting in the driver’s seat of her car, but he eventually fled on foot before being arrested shortly after. White also attacked a correctional officer in 2022 while awaiting court action in the matter.

🐶 Rescue of the Week

James Short | Wiss Now

Meet Kane, a nine-year-old mastiff being fostered through Home At Last Dog Rescue.

Kane was found as a stray in Philadelphia. He is 120 pounds and has a very casual and loving demeanor. He is crate- and house-trained and loves to lounge around. Kane is good with other dogs if he received a slow introduction. He would do well in a moderately active home and someone who has experience with larger dogs and children 12 or older.

If you are interested in adopting Kane or would like more information, you can reach out to Home At Last Dog Rescue at [email protected] or visit the group's website.
