🚦The Latest On Fatal Pedestrian Accident In Blue Bell

James Short | Wiss Now
The fatal New Year's Eve pedestrian accident in Whitpain -- two women died and another was injured -- remains under investigation. But some people are already asking for change.
The incident occurred near the intersection of Skippack Pike and Butler Pike in Blue Bell by Phil's Tavern. Several residents have expressed concerns about the safety of the area. They say the sightlines are poor for drivers and new safety measures like a crosswalk, improved lighting and speed bumps are necessary.
Whitpain cops have declined comment. Township Manager Eric Traub told Wiss Now the Board of Supervisors would consider any options once it reviews the probe's findings.
🥖 Paris Baguette Opens In Upper Dublin
There is a new place to grab a coffee and pastry in Upper Dublin.
A Paris Baguette location opened last week on Limekiln Pike in Dresher; it is owned by franchisees (and newlyweds) Drashti and Parta Shroff.
In other UD development news: The township planning committee narrowly approved a proposed mixed-use development on the Prudential tract last month. The Promenade East concept would be a commercial, retail and residential development on Welsh Road with 600 apartments, 160 stacked townhouses, 100,000 square feet of medical or corporate office space and a 150-unit senior and assisted living facility. The development could also potentially hold a hotel and an Upper Dublin police substation.

🎄Christmas Tree Collection In Whitpain
If you live in Whitpain and still have not taken your Christmas tree down, now is the time. The township will collect real trees for disposal the next two weekends. Residents on the south side of Skippack Pike will see collections on Jan. 22; the north siders will have it on Jan. 29. Trees cannot have anything on them to be picked up.

🚨 Local Cops Sound Alarms On Scams
Ambler Police issued a warning about a scam where an alleged Xfinity representative calls customers about renewing service at a discounted rate if they pay an upfront $525 fee.
Lower Gwynedd cops also issued a warning about another scam where callers pose as court or law enforcement representatives and claim residents missed court dates and must pay fines in Bitcoin to avoid an arrest.
🐶 Rescue of the Week

James Short | Wiss Now
This feature is a bit different this week. Meet Gobble, who is being fostered in Blue Bell through Home At Last Dog Rescue but is not yet ready to be adopted. He is a “special needs medical dog” receiving therapy and treatment to address his four abducted limbs — which means they were positioned outward at abnormal angles. He has made progress with walking and in his recovery, but he still has a lot of work to do before finding a forever home.
If you would like to contribute to Gobble’s recovery and medical needs, you can visit the group’s website to donate. HAL also accepts Venmo, @HomeAtLast-DogRescue. In addition to monetary gifts, HAL also needs food and supply donations for its dogs. If you would like to donate supplies, arrangements can be made here.
