π¨ The Latest On Upper Dublin Accident Accident

James Short | Wiss Now
An October accident in Upper Dublin was allegedly caused by an impaired motorcycle driver, police said.
ICYMI: A driver was trying to turn her Subaru Outback into a gas station on Dreshertown Road on Oct. 3 around 7:30 p.m. when a fast-moving motorcycle crashed into the front of her vehicle. The bikeβs driver was found by first responders face-down in the road and eventually transported to Abington Jefferson Hospital.
The driver, 51-year-old Jason S. Berish of Dresher, has since been charged with DUI and other related charges.
The criminal complaint alleges Upper Dublin cops smelled alcohol on his breath at the scene and he acknowledged having drank earlier in the night. Cops were unable to request permission for a blood draw when he was hospitalized, but received a search warrant for his medical records and samples. That information revealed Berish tested positive for alcohol, ethanol, fentanyl and THC in his blood.
π Recycle Your Broken Holiday Lights
The odds are high you will stumble across burnt-out or malfunctioning holiday lights as you begin to unpack and decorate in the coming days. The Lower Gwynedd Township Environmental Advisory Council wants to help.
No, the group won't buy you new ones or hang them for you. But it is encouraging people to bring old lights to its recycling drop-off at Ingersoll Park rather than throw them in the garbage. The EAC will have color-coded collection bins available through Jan. 31.
Holiday lights are typically made of materials that do not biodegrade (and, occasionally, are toxic). Some can take hundreds of years to break down in landfills. The lights also typically metals that are easily repurposed, like copper.

Montgomery County will hold a forum to discuss the Whitemarsh Wissahickon Floodplain Restoration Project tomorrow (Dec. 5) from 5-7 p.m. at the Whitemarsh Township Building.
Residents will be able to learn about the plan to restore about 11 acres of floodplain along the Wissahickon Creek in Whitemarsh. The project consultant is scheduled to give a presentation at 6 p.m. and there will be informational material on hand, as well as time for public feedback.
The county-owned land suffered flood and wind damage during Hurricane Ida in 2021; subsequent cleanup efforts caused more damage.

πΆ Rescue of the Week

James Short | Wiss Now
Meet Gabi, a 9-week-old Jack Russell/Terrier mix currently being fostered in Blue Bell through Home At Last Dog Rescue. She and her three brothers were rescued from a puppy mill in Lancaster.
Gabi is an active puppy who loves to explore the world and snuggle. She is still learning, so a home with patience is likely the best fit for her. If you are interested in adopting Gabi or would like more information, you can reach out to Home At Last Dog Rescue at [email protected] or visit the group's website.
