π Wissahickon Valley Boys and Girls Club Opens New Facility

The Wissahickon Valley Boys and Girls Club has moved into a new facility that better serves families who need afterschool care for their children.
The new location, which sits on a 27,000-square-foot lot on Maple Avenue in Ambler, is currently going through a phased opening after the organization left its previous location in the basement of the Ambler Mennonite Church.
A lead teacher and an assistant teacher work with kids on homework, math practice, reading and other tasks. There is also an indoor gymnasium, traditional arcade games, an air hockey table, other activities, a kitchen and more.
The club will open to the general public in February. Annual memberships will be $25 and kids can go any time after school and have access to all amenities. An eight- or nine-week summer camp program is also planned for an additional fee.
π Santa Claus Is Coming To Whitpain
The big guy is headed to the area on Saturday with an assist from the Centre Square Fire Company and Whitpain police.
Santa Claus will be escorted through the streets of Whitpain atop a fire truck starting at 10 a.m. He will visit each section of the town; listen for sirens to know when he is approaching.

π₯ΎState Grant For Green Ribbon Trail

Google StreetView
Upper Dublin has received a grant from Pennsylvania's Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to improve its stretch of the Green Ribbon Trail.
The township will get $35,000 to put toward a review of trail access points and potential intersection improvements. The trail runs 12.6 miles through several municipalities, so the study will involve other towns. Whitemarsh also received a $60,000 grant for reviews into its parks and open space planning.

π¨ CVS Shoplifting Duo Faces Charges
Upper Dublin police caught up to two women who allegedly stole from the CVS in Dresher, minutes after the pair had fled the store with over $800 in stolen goods.
Cops responded to the store on a theft call and received descriptions of the suspects from an employee. A patrol car then spotted the described vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The women -- one from Philadelphia, the other from Elkton, Maryland -- admitted to being at the CVS and said they were shopping for lice shampoo. But they left the store, they alleged, after staffers followed them and made them uncomfortable. CVS then informed cops the duo had stolen $833.02 in merchandise, providing an itemized list.
An employee was brought to the traffic stop to identify the suspects; the stolen items were in plain view inside the vehicle. The Philly woman faces felony charges due to past retail theft convictions.

πΆ Rescue of the Week

James Short | Wiss Now
Meet Kuzco, a three-year-old Terrier mix currently being fostered through Home At Last Dog Rescue. He was found as a stray in South Carolina and has made his way north; he is a happy dog who loves to meet people and go on walks; he gets along with other dogs and cats. Kuzco is crate- and house-trained and would do well in a family with kids and a yard.
If you are interested in adopting Kuzco or would like more information, you can reach out to Home At Last Dog Rescue at [email protected] or visit the group's website.
